Children in Worship
Sharing Our Faith in Public Worship

The best way to help children develop faith is to worship along with them! We offer Ice Cream Sundays (first Sundays of the month), each Ice Cream Sunday we share a shortened liturgy with elements specifically targeting children, and afterward everyone shares Ice Cream.

Children are encouraged to participate as worship helpers! We are always looking for good acolytes (fire bearers), readers, and helpers. It is said if a child is moving they are learning- that's why we invite them to join in the actions of worship every Sunday.

For younger children who might need some support in the worship space, we have a play and pray space with seasonal activities designed for pre-readers. For new readers the best thing is to be with their family as they observe you pray, sing, and listen. We want to help children develop their spirituality and so noise is welcome in worship.

Children's Faith Formation
Expanding Faith Beyond Worship

Children are invited to Godly Play each Sunday at 9 AM. Godly Play provides structure for spiritual practice, the method engages our innate spirituality and nourishes use of religious language to make meaning from Biblical stories through the Creative Process. The Godly Play method firstly aims for fluency in the Christian language before adolenscence so the children entering this next stage of development have the ability to explore their existential limits and articulate their experiences in community.

Pray at Home Bags- given out the first Sunday of each Month. Each bag is full of lessons, crafts and treats curated by our children's ministry team to nurture faith at home. They are available for our kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews- anyone who might benefit from learning about the Bible and God at home.

Seasonal Events- nearly every month throughout the school year Christ the King offers a special event with games, prizes, food, surpises, and a chance to come together as a community and grow in faith! For example we host an Easter Extravaganza, St. Nicholas Festival, Trunk or Treat and so many more. Watch our calendar for information about upcoming events.

On an "as needed" basis children and at least one caring adult are invited to take 1st Communion instruction with Pastor Laura. If you have a young person who would like to engage thier faith in this way, please call the office and we'll set up a class.
