 Welcome to the email newsletter of Christ the King Lutheran Church!  We are excited about the opportunities we have to share the joy of growing in Christ's love!   

Our worship services are Saturday, 5pm, and Sunday 8am and 10:30 am, with Power Hour for all ages at 9:15am. 

This Sunday we are celebrating 6 Pentecost.  The color is green.  You can look up the readings on www.oremus.org

 We encourage everyone to be part of our educational hour, which is at 9:15am on Sundays.  We have our classes for toddlers through adults! .  Our Teen Bible group meets in the fellowship hall.  Pastor Unger is teaching the adult class, “Between Services with Pastor Unger.”  As you can see we have opportunities for everyone to grow in the study of God’s Word – hope to see you then!

ANNOUNCEMENTS 

CONGREGATIONAL NEWS—You may read the monthly newsletter and calendar of events at our website at www.ctk-nola.org.

Many of our members and guests also receive the weekly bulletin announcements by email Simply write your email address on your green attendance slip in the bulletin and you will be added to the list of those who receive them. (This list also serves as a data base for keeping in contact electronically during an emergency.) 

CAMP HOPE—Our summer day camp begins July 12th and runs through July 30th, Monday-Friday. Camp begins at 9:30 am and ends at 3:30 pm with before– and aftercare available. We are still accepting applications. Registration forms are available in the narthex or church office. 

SUPPLIES FOR CAMP HOPE—The Camp Hope giving tree is in the narthex holding items that are needed for the campers’ activities.  Just pick a leaf and then drop off the item(s) in the narthex.  Nothing will be over $5.00. 

DAILY DEVOTIONALS—The devotionals for July, August and September are in the narthex. Pick yours up on the way out. There are also a limited number of large print editions available. 

EMERGENCY INFORMATION FORMS—”Emergency Information” forms are available in the foyer for those who have never submitted one to the church or need to update their contact information. We keep these on hand so we know how to communicate during an emergency.

YOGA—The next yoga session will begin on Tuesday, July 6th and conclude on Thursday, August 12th.  Classes begin at 5:45 pm in the Community Center. Cost is $30 for the entire session payable by check or cash only. Beginners are welcome. No preregistration is required. Bring a mat or beach towel to class. FREE FOOD PROGRAM—Audubon Elementary School, 200 W. Loyola Drive, Kenner, is having a free breakfast and lunch program, Mon.-Fri. Breakfast is 7:45-8:45 and lunch is 11:30-12:00. You must eat the meals in the cafeteria (no “to go” meals.) You also do not have to go to both breakfast and lunch; you can go to either. This free meal program will run until the end of July. If you have any questions, contact Jennifer Adam at 504-975-1067. This program may shut down if there is not enough response. This is a wonderful way for families in need to make sure their kids have 2 hot meals a day. Please spread the word to anyone whom you think might benefit from this program. 

SOMETHING DIFFERENT—How about Christmas in July and bonco on Friday night? We’ll supply the fried turkey and drinks, you bring a side dish to make it seem like Christmas dinner. Then we’ll play bonco.  The date is July 23rd, the time is 6:30 PM and the cost is $7 per person, everything included.  No sign– up sheet, no prepay, just show up and eat and drink and have a blast! Remember, bonco is an adult only event. All adults and friends are invited and encouraged to attend. 

4TH OF JULY HOLIDAY—The office will be closed Monday, July 5th, in observance of the July 4th holiday. If you have a pastoral need, please call Pastor Unger at 985-764-7088. 

ASSISTING LUTHERAN HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS—Thank you to all those who donated directly to the Senior student in need of financial assistance to complete her senior year. She is now one of the Lutheran High’s newest alumni. The family continues to struggle with health issues and job placement but is very grateful for your assistance. If you would like to help again or missed the opportunity to support a student directly, please feel free to send a check designated to sponsor a student.  This year’s tuition is $5,600. Any amount you send will go directly to assisting a family in need of making a quality Lutheran education possible.
